論文を書くときに英語は、
- できるだけ分かりやすく、平易な英語で。Fool proof English!!
- 一文は20語以内が理想的。
- 関係代名詞、受動態、分子構文を安易に使わない。
- いずれも主語が不明確になってしまう。
- Native check必須！
- 確からしさを明確に！
definite > certain > probable > possible
※基本mightは使わない。「ひょっとしたら…」というニュアンスであり、非常にあいまい。 - コロンとセミコロンの使い分けをきちんと。
コロン：「=」と同じ。as follows...の後に用いられることがある。
セミコロン：補足説明。カンマとピリオドの中間的な役割。 - Therefor, thereby, thusを効果的に使う。
文中で使うならまだしも、Therefore, ...で始まる分はかなり堅苦しい。論文内では1回しか(「結論」セクションで)用いないようなイメージ。
thereby>thusの順で柔らかいイメージ。therebyは分頭では用いられず。thusは最も汎用性高い。
